Amazon Prime FTC Refunds (FTC v. Amazon)
File your claim on the official site → Takes you to Amazon (court-supervised claims process); contact [email protected] — filing is free.
What happened
The FTC alleged Amazon enrolled tens of millions of consumers in Prime without consent through "challenged enrollment flows" and made cancellation difficult. A $2.5 billion court-ordered settlement (Sept 25, 2025) includes $1.5 billion for consumer refunds — the largest FTC refund program in history.
Who qualifies
US consumers who signed up for Prime June 23, 2019 - June 23, 2025 through a challenged enrollment flow (or unsuccessfully tried to cancel online) and used few Prime benefits. Automatic payments went out Nov-Dec 2025; everyone else eligible received a claim notice by mail or email starting January 2026.
How much you could get
Refund of Prime membership fees paid during the covered period, up to $51 per person, by check, PayPal, or Venmo; claim-process payments expected late 2026
Rule of thumb: individual payouts shrink as more people file. Funds first pay attorneys' fees and costs (typically 25–35%), then split the rest among valid claims.

Worth knowing
IMPORTANT — no claim deadline is published on the FTC page; your individual deadline is on your claim notice. Press reports widely cite July 27, 2026, but that date could not be verified on an official source as of 2026-07-10 — treat it as the latest-safe filing date and confirm on your notice. Heavy scam activity around this program: the FTC is NOT calling people about Amazon refunds and no one legitimate will charge a fee.
